We are almost halfway through the month of November already. Once again, there have been a lot of movements and happenings throughout the past week. We had the passing of a pair of influential and legendary figures in basketball and football. The former commissioner of the NFL, Paul Tagliabue passed away and legendary NBA player and coach, Lenny Wilkins also passed. Both men contributed so much to their sports and the growth of it. Week 10 of the NFL season saw a few teams in both conferences separate from the rest of the pack. We began the week with a 10-7 on Thursday Night and finished with a 10-1 game on Monday Night. The biggest news coming out of the NFL this past week was the firing of Brian Daboll by the New York Giants. The Giants have dealt with injuries and they’re currently 2-8.
Travis Hunter has been ruled out the remainder of the season for Jacksonville after undergoing knee surgery. College Football saw its fair share of upsets and specifically in the AFC. Virginia and Louisville went down as favorites and the ACC is now wide open. Georgia Tech, Virginia, Pittsburgh, SMU and Duke all have one loss with Miami and Louisville having two. In the NBA, the Oklahoma City Thunder are the clear-cut top team in the league. The Thunder are the only team with only one loss thus far. After a lot of backlash from the Dallas Mavericks fan, the team fired Nico Harrison a couple of days ago. Outkast headlined the newest legendary artists to enter the Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame. The induction was well deserved from the legendary pair from Atlanta. Speaking of Outkast, their Dungeon Family partners, Goodie Mob celebrated the 30th anniversary of their Soul Food album.
GZA from the Wu-Tang Clan also celebrated the 30th anniversary of his classic Liquid Swords album. My playlist this past week consisted of Till Death Do Us Part by the Geto Boys and the new Westside Gunn joint. Young Bleed, the Best of MC Eiht and the Snofall project from Jeezy. My featured track is a classic R&B record from 1990. Guy and their classic record, Let’s Chill is my featured Throwback Thursday joint of the week. Let’s Chill is from their second album called The Future which is platinum after its release. Guy consisted of super producer Teddy Riley, Aaron Hall and Damian Hall. Damian Hall replaced Timmy Gatling after their debut album from 1988. Let’s Chill was the group’s second single released from their album. Check out the video for Let’s Chill above.
