Ghetto Mafia Draw the Line Released 30 Years Ago Today

Outkast got a lot of attention for dropping their groundbreaking Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik on this day 30 years ago. They deserve the recognition and even more, but there was another classic Atlanta record dropped that day. Ghetto Mafia and their Draw the Line album was released 30 years ago today. Nino and Wicked formed Ghetto Mafia and this was around the time Atlanta was transitioning out of bass music. Hip hop was moving towards a more gangster element and Ghetto Mafia fit the bill. They dropped Draw the Line on an independent label, and it was well received. The only single that was released was Everyday Thang in da Hood. Everyday Thang in da Hood featured the late, great MC Breed. Breed and Ghetto Mafia were on the same label, so it made since to have him on the record.

Check out the video for Everyday Thang in Da Hood up above. What happened to the Ghetto Mafia? They went on to release four more albums with the last one dropping in 2005. They returned in 2016 with a single called Elephant in the Room. Nino and Wicked haven’t put out any new music to my knowledge ever since. Wicked is a regular on the popular B-High ATL podcast out in Atlanta. Check out my top 5 tracks from the Draw the Line album below.
