Last week, Tha Dogg Pound and their classic What Would U Do? was the featured track. We will head in the R&B direction this week with Donell Jones. Jones released his first album back in June of 1996 called My Heart. Donell Jones began his career with a group called Porché. After the group broke up, Jones turned to songwriting and production, writing songs for R&B group Jade. Jones also helped with the writing of Usher’s self-titled debut album. My Heart received raved reviews, but it didn’t equal to sells. A little over three years later, Donell Jones released his second album called Where I Wanna Be. Where I Wanna Be was an amazing record and it went platinum in the process. U Know What’s Up was the first single from the album. The song was a success, and the remix featured Left Eye from TLC.
Where I Wanna Be was the second single from the album and it’s my featured Throwback Thursday track. Where I Wanna Be is one of my favorite R&B songs of all time. It charted number two on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, marking his second top five hit on the latter chart. Check out the video for Where I Wanna Be above. You can check out the track listing and stream link for the album below. Drake Views, the new Snoop Dogg album and Twista Adrenaline Rush were all played this week.
