Goodie Mob Cell Therapy for Throwback Thursday

Welcome to another Thursday, as that means we’re closer to the weekend. My playlist this week included a couple of personal mixtapes from Ludacris and 1994 Hip Hop. The debut from Styles P, Real Talk by Fabolous and Back to the Future from Jodeci was also played. The one album that will be at the bottom to stream in the new one from the legendary Goodie Mob. Goodie Mob just released a damn good album called Survival Kit. Survival Kit is music this new generation need to hear and easily one of my favorite albums this year. For my Throwback Thursday, we are going back to 1995 when the Goodie…

Classic SWV Anything for Throwback Thursday

Welcome to another Thursday, that means we’re closer to the weekend. I’ve had two weeks of music to check out. On Thanksgiving, I chose not to post a Throwback Thursday. The new Jeezy album, 2Pac Duets and a pair of personal mixtapes from Ludacris and Eminem were bumped. D’Angelo’s Brown Sugar and the debut from Xscape were played also. For my featured Throwback Thursday track, we’re going with SWV. SWV was one of the many highlights of the R&B era of the 90s. The debut album from SWV, It’s About Time was one of the better one in the 90s. It’s About Time went triple platinum and created a slew…

Twista Overnight Celebrity with Kanye West for Throwback Thursday

Welcome to another Thursday, this means we’re closer to the weekend. My playlist consisted of a mixture of R&B and some hip hop of course. Musiq Soulchild, Jamie Foxx and the debut from Jagged Edge was for the R&B side. For hip hop, Busta Rhymes, the Beautiful Struggle from Talib Kweli, Ice Cube’s debut and Twista. The Adrenaline Rush 2007 album from Twista was on my playlist, but it made me think about some older Twista. We’re going back to the album after his classic, Adrenaline Rush which was the Kamikaze joint. It took Twista almost 7 years to drop the Kamikaze album, but it was well worth the wait.…

Nas Affirmative Action Featuring the Firm for Throwback Thursday

Welcome to another Thursday, which means we’re closer to the weekend. For many of us, this was a short week seeing that Labor Day was on Monday. My playlist this week consisted of the King’s Disease album, NWA Greatest Hits and the Released Therapy album from Ludacris. 8Ball & MJG, Big Boi’s debut album and a 2Pac mixtape was also played this week. For this Throwback Thursday, there’s a lot to choose from when it comes to these artists. With Nas celebrating his 47th birthday in 5 days, we have to go with him. On his new album, the Firm reunited on the track called Full Circle which is one…

Mr. Ku Born Threat for Throwback Thursday

My Mixtape Friday was one of my personal favorites I’ve ever done. The compilation was some of Georgia’s dopest hip hop records spanning about 30 years. OutKast, Goodie Mob, Raheem the Dream, T.I., Ludacris, Jeezy, Ghetto Mafia and Kilo Ali were among those included. Unfortunately, there are a lot of other artists who didn’t make the compilation. Many of my favorite tracks aren’t available on any streaming services which absolutely suck. One of those artists is my featured Throwback Thursday track and his name is Mr. Ku. Born Threat is the name of the record and it came out around the mid-90s. Born Threat from Mr. Ku appeared on several…

Best of Georgia Hip Hop for Mixtape Friday

For my first Mixtape Friday of the year, we had to do something special. Last week, we debuted the new track from Horus Gump and an idea came to me. Georgia has a lot of talent and have had their fair share of influential talent. We can go all the way back to Raheem the Dream, Kilo Ali and Freak Nasty. Outkast took the reins and became arguably the greatest duo ever in hip hop. The Dungeon Family and Goodie Mob became stars and Georgia hip hop was at an all-time high. T.I. and Ludacris took over that produced guys like Jeezy, Gucci, 2 Chainz and many more. With that,…

Usher Dropped Raymond vs. Raymond 10 Years Ago Today

It’s hard to believe that Usher has been in the game for over 25 years now. Usher hasn’t released a studio album in over 3 years. There are rumors that he’s working on a new album that could be released this year. Confessions is one of my all-time favorite albums. 10 years ago today, Usher released his sixth studio album, Raymond vs. Raymond. Overall, this was a great album that produced a lot of great tracks. A couple of them appeared on my Usher Greatest Hits playlist on Spotify. If you’re an Usher fan, you would probably agree with me on good this album was. The album went platinum and…

Nas Street’s Disciple Released 15 Years Ago

15 years ago was a nice day if you’re a fan of hip hop. We already covered that T.I. dropped his Urban Legend project on this day. My favorite rapper alive, Nas released his seventh album Street’s Disciple. Street’s Disciple was a double album dropped by Nas and it received mixed reviews. While Street’s Disciple isn’t one of my top 5 Nas albums it’s still a solid effort. Street’s Disciple was the follow-up to his incredibly dope God’s Son album. Thief’s Theme was the first official single from Street’s Disciple, and it was released about five months before the album dropped. Thief’s Theme was a nice track and remember it…

Goodies by Ciara Released 15 Years Ago Today

Hip hop was definitely represented on this very day. Talib Kweli’s The Beautiful Struggle and Blackout from Method Man and Redman dropped on this day. Blackout dropped 20 years ago and Talib Kweli released his second solo album the same time as Ciara. Ciara released the title track as her first single a few months before the album dropped. Goodies was well-received, and it featured Petey Pablo. Goodies went on to become the #1 song in the country and the single went platinum. With the single being such a success, people anticipated the album from Ciara. Two months after releasing Goodies as the first single, Ciara released another track. 1,2…

Straight Outta Cashville Turns 15 Years Old Today

Straight Outta Cashville is the incredibly dope album Young Buck dropped 15 years ago today. If you didn’t follow Young Buck’s career, he started with Juvenile and his UTP crew. After touring with 50 Cent, Buck went on to sign with G-Unit Records. Young Buck appeared on 50’s classic, Get Rich or Die Trying and was a part of the Beg for Mercy album. Young Buck also appeared on the debut album from Lloyd Banks before getting his shine. G-Unit, The Game, Ludacris, David Banner and Lil Flip all appeared on Straight Outta Cashville. To build anticipation for the album, Young Buck released Let Me In before the 4th of…

Very Best of Rick Ross for Mixtape Friday

Rick Ross have just released his 9th album, Port of Miami 2. With Rick Ross, you either love him or you hate him. Seeing that I’ve been known to venture on various hip hop sites, that’s pretty much how people view him. The ones that like him will point out how he’s putting out good albums consistently, plus his ear for beats. The ones that don’t hold him in high regard is usually because he lied about being a correction officer. For me, none of that matters and I’m always looking forward to his latest music. For my Mixtape Friday, we’re putting out the Very Best of Rick Ross. If…

Daddy’s Hangout Presents Mixtape Friday Volume 25

Once again, it’s time for another Mixtape Friday. We started the week off with another of my Joints set. This was Joints 41 and there’s about 12 tracks off that project. Kendrick Lamar’s New West Volume 2 was next. Honestly, we don’t know if it’s an actual project or not. Mixtape Friday Volume 24 followed that and Nas’s Illmatic came afterwards. The debut album from T.I., I’m Serious was the next album. Fly Shit from Playa Fly came up next. The final album of the week believe it or not was Lil Bow Wow. Once again, this proves I’ll listen to everything as Bow Wow got four tracks on here.…

Warren G Nate Dogg Regulate for Throwback Thursday

Warren G Nate Dogg Regulate will forever be known as a hip hop classic. Just like MC Eiht from last week, we’re staying out West with a classic soundtrack record. In the 90s, the G-Funk sound was so smooth and hard at the same time. Regulate was featured on my personal favorite movie soundtrack, Above the Rim. Regulate became the lead single for Warren G’s debut album. Tomorrow will mark 25 years since Warren G released his classic debut, Regulate G-Funk Era album. The Above the Rim Soundtrack was released in March and Warren G’s album dropped in June. Of course, we will definitely be posting a little something about…

Listen to My Top 5 Albums from Outkast

Last week for my Music Monday, we highlighted the top 5 albums from Rick Ross. This week we’re celebrating the legendary Outkast and their top 5 albums. Outkast haven’t put out an album since Idlewild, which was the movie they put out. The Speakerboxxx/Love Below album was the last official one that came out over 15 years ago. Big Boi have continued to put out solo projects and Andre 3000 been focusing on acting. From time to time, 3 Stacks have appeared on a few tracks throughout the years. Despite not putting out music over the years, people still talk about Outkast and they’re one of the best duos ever.…

Last week, we listed the top 5 album from Ludacris, but now it’s all about the Wu Tang Clan. Raekwon, Ghostface, Method Man, GZA and ODB put out great projects to go along with the group efforts. As a group, they’ve released seven albums and countless projects as solo artists. Last year, the group celebrated the 25th anniversary of their debut album. Are you ready for the weekend? We have reached Friday and hopefully it’ll be nice this weekend wherever you’re located. With it being Friday, you know it’s time for another Mixtape Friday. We started the week off with the Instructions joint from Jermaine Dupri. This was the follow up to his Life in 1472 project. Up next was the Ice Cream Man from Master P. When it comes to the Ice Cream Man, that’s one of the southern classic from the mid-90s. The Champ is Here Pt. 3 from Jadakiss followed. The Jadakiss Mixtape was hosted by DJ Drama and DJ Green Lantern, which unfortunately isn’t available for streaming. My…

Listen to My Top 5 Albums from T.I.

Last week, we had the original King of the South in Scarface. T.I. have been calling himself the King of the South for quite a few years now. When he first started to call himself that, there were a lot of people taking excepting to it. Either way, over the years T.I. have earned that name with the great projects he’s released. T.I. been in the game for well over 15 years as he dropped his debut album in 2001. I’m Serious was his debut album and it was an instant southern classic. Because I’m Serious selling over 270,000 copies, T.I. was dropped from the label. In 2003, T.I. launched…
