DMX Party Up for Throwback Thursday

DMX Party Up for Throwback Thursday

First off, I’m hoping you and yours had a Merry Christmas. Check out some great gift ideas for family members if you like shopping after Christmas. My playlist this week consisted of the new Freddie Gibbs joint, 12 Play from R. Kelly and the Self Made 2 project from MMG. The new Cordae album, a Big-N-Pac personal compilation and DMX’s And Then There Was X were played. There was some great music played as usual, but I’m highlighting the late, great DMX this week. As we all know, DMX passed away back in April of 2021. DMX blew up in the late-90s when he released his first two albums in 1998. The following year, DMX dropped his third album, and it was called And Then There Was X. And Then There Was X turned 25 years old a few days ago.

What’s My Name was his first single and it dropped the week following the release of the album. What’s My Name went gold, and it was a solid single. Party Up was the second single, and it was one of DMX’s biggest singles. Party Up went triple platinum and it’s my featured Throwback Thursday track. The song was voted number 56 on VH1’s 100 Greatest Songs of the ’00s. It was listed at No. 388 on Rolling Stone’s “Top 500 Greatest Songs of All Time” in 2021. Party Up is a huge song at sporting events as it has transcended throughout all cultures. Check out the video above for Party Up by DMX. Check out the track listing and stream link for the And Then There Was X album below.
