Junior Mafia released their debut album called Conspiracy 30 years ago today. Junior Mafia is a click that the Notorious B.I.G. put on. After releasing his iconic Ready to Die album, Biggie wanted to put his crew on. This album meant a lot to me because it was the first physical CD I purchased after leaving cassettes. Junior Mafia’s Conspiracy went on to go gold on the strength of 3 singles. Player’s Anthem was their first single and Biggie was featured on this track. Player’s Anthem was a big hit, and it went gold in the process. Junior Mafia and The Notorious B.I.G. first performed the song live at the 1995 Source Awards on August 3. I Need You Tonight was the second single from Junior Mafia and it featured Faith Evans. Aaliyah replaced Faith Evans in the video and on the single version.
I Need You Tonight wasn’t as successful as Player’s Anthem, but it was a dope record. Get Money was the third and final single from Junior Mafia’s Conspiracy joint. Get Money became their most successful single by going platinum. During this time, Biggie threw shots at his wife Faith Evans on this track and in the video. After the buzz of the Get Money track, Biggie and Junior Mafia started gearing up for Lil Kim’s album. Hard Core was the name of her album, and it sold over 5 million records worldwide. The single to Get Money also featured a dope remix also. Conspiracy is a good album, and we all thought they would release another album afterwards. Unfortunately, they would disband after the death of The Notorious B.I.G. in March of 1997. Check out my top 5 tracks from the album below. After that, check the track listing and stream link to the album.
