E-40 starting putting music out back in 1991 with his Mr. Flamboyant EP. The following year, 40 Water released the Click album. The Click consisted of E-40, B-Legit, D-Shot, and Suga T. Later in 1992, E-40 released his first full length album called Federal. In 1993, E-40 returned with an EP called The Mail Man. The Mail Man featured his first major hit called Captain Save a Hoe. About a year and a half later, E-40 released his second full length album, and it was called In a Major Way. In a Major from E-40 turns 30 years old today and it earned him his first platinum plaque. The album peaked at number 13 on the Billboard 200 and number 2 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. 2Pac, Celly Cel, Mac Mall, Spice 1, and many others appeared on the album.
1-Luv was the first single from the album and it was one of the better songs on the project. E-40 dedicated the song to “the struggle and all the people that’s incarcerated” and used it to explain the hard times in his life. Sprinkle Me was the next single dropped from the In a Major Way album. Sprinkle Me featured his younger sister Suga-T and it was another dope track from the album. Due to its popularity, E-40 released a video for the Dusted N Disgusted track. The original track featured 2Pac, Spice 1, Mac Mall, and Levitti. Celly Cel’s verse replaces 2Pac’s in the video version of the song as 2Pac was in jail at the time. Richie Rich makes a cameo appearance and says a few words in the early part of the song and is seen wearing a T-shirt that clearly reads: “Free 2Pac”.
In a Major Way is my favorite album from E-40. 40 Water is one of the more influential rappers due to slang he uses. He has released 27 studio albums to date and appeared on numerous movie soundtracks, plus appeared on several more albums. E-40 is also an investor and has his own investment company.
