Tony Toni Tone Anniversary for Throwback Thursday

Welcome to another week as we get closer to the spring season. We lost an hour of sleep this past weekend with the time moving forward. As always, there’s always a lot going on in the world today. We lost a musical icon in Roy Ayers. Ayers was 84 years old, and he’s known for his classic hit, Everybody Loves the Sunshine. Ayers music was sampled a lot over the years by the likes of Naughty by Nature and Mary J. Blige. In the NBA, the race for league MVP between Nikola Jokic and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander continues to heat up. The Los Angeles Lakers will be without LeBron James for up to two weeks due to his groin injury. The legal tampering period is open in the NFL and there’s been a lot of movement in free agency and trades.

Coming off blowing out the Chiefs in the Super Bowl, the Eagles lost about half of their defensive starters. Josh Allen signed his historic extension that will guarantee him $250 million. After requesting a trade, DK Metcalf was traded to Pittsburgh, and he signed an extension. My playlist this week included the new album from Jim Jones and the Better Dayz joint from 2Pac. There were a few others, but we will look at the legendary group, Tony Toni Tone. Tony Toni Tone is an R&B/Soul band hailing from Oakland, California. They began their career together back in the mid-80s. They released four studio albums between 1988 to 1996. My favorite album from Tony Toni Tone is their Sons of Soul project that dropped back in 1993. The double platinum project had five singles, and their second one is my featured track.

Anniversary is my featured Throwback Thursday joint and it’s one of their better records. Anniversary spent 20 weeks on the charts and it’s one of my favorite R&B hits. One of the members of the group recently passed away. D’Wayne Wiggins passed away at the age of 64 due to bladder cancer. Rest in peace to D’Wayne Wiggins.
