When it comes to the west coast we all talk about N.W.A., 2Pac, E-40, Too $hort, Snoop Dogg and later the Game and Kendrick Lamar. One of the originators of having a worldwide audience was Ice-T. Ice-T released his debut album in 1987 and the album went gold. 6 N The Morning was his big hit from the album as it pushed the project to be successful. The following year Ice-T dropped his second album called Power. The Power album is remembered for the album cover, but it was arguably his best project. Power went platinum and the first single will be my featured throwback track. I’m Your Pusher is a great track, and it was known for starting his beef with LL Cool J. What was crazier is that the video saw cameos from Big Daddy Kane and Kool DJ Red Alert.
I’m Your Pusher was also featured on his greatest hits album, which was on my playlist this week. Nowadays, Ice-T still tours from time to time and his stamina was talked about by Chuck D recently. Ice-T became an actor after slowing down on the music side, but he’s still respected being one of the pioneers of the west coast sound. I’m Your Pusher is my Throwback Thursday track, and you can peep at the video above. Below you can check out the track listings to the Power and Greatest Hits album along with the stream links.
