Rick Ross Deeper Than Rap Released 15 Years Ago Today

Rick Ross has been in the news a lot lately and that’s due to his beef with Drake. Ross has been relentlessly with the disses and even dropped a track called Champagne Moments. Rick Ross first went major back in 2006. Beforehand, he was grinding in the game for a good minute and even featured on Trina’s Told Y’all back in 2002. In 2006, Rick Ross released his debut album called Port of Miami. After the success of Hustlin’, the album went platinum, and he was established as one of the newer stars. About a year and a half later, Trilla was released, and it was his second album. Trilla went gold, but honestly this album wasn’t touching his Port of Miami project. A little over a year later, Ross returned with his third album titled Deeper Than Rap. This was around the time he began to beef with 50 Cent.

Deeper Than Rap dropped 15 years ago today and this album turned me into a huge Rick Ross fan. The whole vibe to the album was a mafia theme as you can see by the album cover. Mafia Music was his street single, and it garnered a lot of buzz after its release. The track is what started his feud with 50 Cent after Ross mentioned 50’s baby mother. The first official single for the album was Magnificent. Magnificent was a great track and one of Ross’s signature smooth records. The track also got a remix that featured John Legend, Big Boi, Special, and Diddy. All I Really Want was the second single despite not getting an official release. The track featured The Dream, and it wasn’t a bad track at all. The final single from the album featured Kanye West, Lil Wayne, and T-Pain.

Maybach Music 2 was the track, and it was one of the highlights of the album. The original Maybach Music appeared on the Trilla album and it featured Jay-Z. Unfortunately, Deeper Than Rap didn’t achieve gold status, which baffles me. Rick Ross has assembled an impressive discography over the years. Deeper Than Rap is one of my top 5 albums from Rick Ross. Check out my top 5 tracks from the album below. After that, you can peep at the track listing and stream link for the Deeper Than Rap album.
