Trav’s 2023 Week 6 NFL Predictions

Week 5 is in the books, and we still have only two undefeated teams in the NFL. The San Francisco 49ers and the Philadelphia Eagles remain without a loss heading into Week 6. The Niners put together a masterpiece by dismantling Dallas in the Sunday Night game. Philadelphia traveled out west and defeated the Rams by shutting down the offense in the second half. My Week 5 record was 5-3 and my overall mark dips down to 33-17. The winning percentage drops from 66.7% to 66%. Chicago beat Washington last Thursday was my first defeat of the week. Justin Fields played exceptionally well for the second consecutive week in a row. My second defeat came when the Jaguars defeated the Bills in London. The third and final defeat came when the Colts beat the Titans in a game where Anthony Richardson went out with an injury.

There was a lot of news coming out of the NFL this past week. Jonathon Taylor returned to the Colts, and they gave a contract extension to the star running back. Injuries continue to hamper the league and now Justin Jefferson was put on IR with his hamstring injury. New England continues to struggle after being shut out by the New Orleans Saints. Could Cincinnati finally be turning the corner? This week I’ll be predicting a total of 9 games. Hopefully, I’ll be able to get back to my great picks from a few weeks ago. Let’s get this thing started.

We head to the AFC West as the Denver Broncos travel to Arrowhead and Kansas City to face the Chiefs. The Broncos are a team that’s in disarray after dropping their last game to the Jets. Sean Payton was shown getting on to Russell Wilson after his fumble lost the game. It has been rumored that the Broncos could start trading pieces to build for the future. Can the Broncos find a way to defeat the defending champions? Kansas City has won four games in a row after losing their season opener. Patrick Mahomes hasn’t really played like his usual MVP self. Despite not looking like Superman, this team continues to find ways to win. We don’t know if Denver will have trade any pieces away before Thursday. With that. I’m picking the Chiefs to win their 5^th in a row. Kansas City Win 34-20

For the third consecutive week, we have an NFL game in London. The Baltimore Ravens will take on the Tennessee Titans. The Ravens offense struggled in their defeat to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Baltimore offense scored at least 19 points in their first four games. In their loss to the Steelers, they only scored 10 points. Many are pointing the finger at Lamar Jackson, but his receivers dropped 8 passes. Can the receivers turn their luck around? Tennessee is coming off a tough loss against division rival Indianapolis. The Titans allowed the Colts to run all over them. The Titans have alternated wins and losses in their first five games. Ryan Tannehill will need a great game because the Ravens defense will try to limit Derrick Henry. I’m picking the Ravens to edge the Titans. Baltimore Win 24-21

The Seattle Seahawks will make the cross-country trip to Cincinnati to take on the Bengals. Seattle is coming off their bye week and riding a 3-game winning streak. They are coming off their best defensive game after holding the Giants to 3 points. Geno Smith and the offense is averaging almost 28 points per game, and it ranks them 6^th in the league. Can the Seahawks make in four wins a row against a tough Bengals team? Could Cincinnati start turning around their season? The Bengals enter this game with a 2-3 record. Joe Burrow had his best game of the season and Ja’Marr Chase had a monster game against Arizona. The Bengals need this win seeing they have the 49ers and Bills their next 2 games. I’m going with the Bengals to even their record. Cincinnati Win 31-21

We have the best team in the league in San Francisco heading to Cleveland to take on the Browns. The 49ers have looked hungry since the start of the season. They are outscoring opponents by an average of 20 points per game. Brock Purdy and Christian McCaffrey look like frontrunners in the MVP race. The defense is one another level with only the Rams getting within 7 points of them. Can they continue to dominate their opponents? Cleveland is coming off their bye week. They scored at least 24 points in their first 3 games, but only scored 3 in their last one. The Browns are hoping Deshaun Watson comes back who missed their last game with an injured shoulder. This game should be closer than expected, but I’m going with the 49ers to get by the Browns. San Francisco Win 24-17

The Indianapolis Colts will head to Jacksonville to battle the Jaguars. The Colts are coming off an impressive win over another division rival in the Tennessee Titans. The return of Jonathan Taylor was met with excitement for the franchise. Zach Moss went out and had the game of his career by rushing for 165 yards and 2 TDs. Unfortunately, the Colts lost their first-round pick in franchise QB Anthony Richardson. Richardson will miss a lot of time with his injured shoulder. Jacksonville is getting back from London where they won their last two games. The Jaguars are looking for their first win in their actual stadium. The winner of this will at least be tied for the AFC South lead. I’m picking the Colts to win in the return to Jacksonville for Gardner Minshew. Indianapolis Win 24-23

The New Orleans Saints will travel to Houston to take on the Texans. The Saints ended their two-game losing streak in New England last week. New Orleans shutout the Patriots 34-0 in a dominating performance. Despite the 3-2 record, the Saints offense still need to improve. New Orleans averaged less than 16 points a game before their 34-point performance against the Patriots. Can Derek Carr and the Saints build off their momentum from the Patriots game? The Houston Texans have found their quarterback of the future in C.J. Stroud. Stroud hasn’t thrown an interception in his NFL career thus far. Houston is already top-5 in passing in the NFL and the defense is only giving up 20 points a game. This should be a great game and I’m picking the Texans to upset the Saints. Houston Win 24-21

We have the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles heading to New York to meet the Jets. The Eagles are one of two teams in the league that’s still undefeated. The offense continues to shine as they can beat you in many ways. Jalen Hurts is starting to look like the MVP candidate from a year ago. A.J. Brown looks like one of the best receivers in the league. The defense put up a masterful performance in the second half last week. The Jets ended their 3-game losing streak a week ago on the road against Denver. Zach Wilson is looking more comfortable every week. Breece Hall rushed for 177 yards last week as he continues to get healthier. This should be a very physical game and could be a low scoring one. I’m going with the Eagles to win and stay unbeaten. Philadelphia Win 23-17

We have two of the more surprising teams in the league battling each other. The Detroit Lions head south to Tampa Bay to face the Buccaneers. The Lions are riding a 3-game win streak heading into this contest. Detroit is averaging almost 30 points a game. The Lions also are top-10 in passing and rushing offense. The Lions are hoping to keep winning to create distance in the NFC North. Will they make it four in a row? Tampa is sitting atop of the NFC South with a 3-1 record. Baker Mayfield has played great, and the Bucs defense is looking stellar also. The rush offense is still a work in progress as they only average 87 a game on the ground. I’m going with the Lions to go to Florida and leave with the win. Detroit Win 31-21

We have the Sunday Night game and it’s a battle between a pair of New York teams. The New York Giants will travel to Buffalo to take on the Bills. The Giants are in disarray seeing they’ve started the season 1-4. Daniel Jones injured his neck last week in their game against Miami. New York is optimistic Jones can play, but this team played badly. The only win they had was against Arizona and they should’ve lost that one. Buffalo is coming off a heartbreaking loss over in London against Jacksonville. The loss to the Jaguars ended their 3-game winning streak. The Bills offense had looked unstoppable during their winning streak. Can they return to that form? I’m saying this will be a rebound game for the Bills. Buffalo Win 34-17

We have the Monday Night game between two of the better teams of their respective conferences. The Dallas Cowboys stays on the west coast and visit Los Angeles to face the Chargers. The Cowboys are coming off their blowout loss in San Francisco to the 49ers. Dallas still is one of the better offensive teams in the league. They have struggled with their passing seeing they rank 20^th in the league. The defense is still one of the better ones in the league, but they must pressure Justin Herbert. The Chargers started the season with two losses but won their last two games. They have been dealing with injuries, but their bye week could help them. They need this win seeing they head to Kansas City next week. I’m picking the Chargers to win this one. Los Angeles Win 31-21
