Mother’s Day is around the corner, May 11th to be exact!! Being a Father I can honestly say that the man I’ve become and the values that I believe in is a direct result of the influence my Mother have on me. Whether it was her giving me chores at an early age, teaching me how to cook and clean so I wouldn’t have to depend on anyone or me just sitting back and seeing how she sacrifice so much so I can have everything I needed and more. I know that she doesn’t want anything for Mother’s Day like always, but I’ll always surprise her with something either way. My plan is to head to Walmart to get her gift because they have initiated a program for all women called Walmart’s Empowering Women Together where they offer products made by small women-owned businesses that range from scarves and aprons, to chocolate sets and cards. By purchasing one of these products, you lift and empower the women behind the scenes to create new jobs and improve both their own lives and the lives of their families and communities. So I can get my mom a gift from the kids that are catered to Grandma like jewelry, cards, pictures or clothing I know I’ll find something she love.
My Mother isn’t the only the important woman in my life because I’m thankful for my wife, who’s also instilling those same core values in my kids and they love to show that love for her during Mother’s Day. The big thing she always cherishes from them is that every year they rather make home-made Mother’s Day cards for her, which is something they have always done since they were around 3 or 4 years old.
