Listen and Stream DMX First 2 Albums for Throwback Thursday

Welcome to another Thursday as that mean we are closer to the weekend. This week will be a little different. We are honoring the late, great DMX who passed away last Friday. DMX had a heart attack on April 2nd and succumbed a week later. He was 50 years old and was preparing for his comeback. There is a completed album he finished before passing away. DMX hit the scene by dropping 2 platinum albums in one year. It’s Dark and Hell is Hot dropped in May of 1998 and went 4x platinum. Flesh of my Flesh, Blood of my Blood was released in December of 1998. The album sold…

The Resurrection from the Geto Boys Turns 25 Years Old

The Geto Boys is one of the illest groups to ever pick up a mic. They first hit the scene back in the late-80s and earned their first platinum plaque in 1991. We Can’t Be Stopped was the album and many have ranked it as one of the greatest hip hop albums ever. We Can’t Be Stopped is also known for the album cover as they exit the hospital. This is where Bushwick Bill shot himself in the eye. Speaking of Bill, rest in peace to him seeing he passed away in June of 2019. Two years later, the Geto Boys released their classic, Til Death Do Us Part. The…

Geto Boys The World is a Ghetto for Throwback Thursday

Welcome to another Thursday as that mean we are closer to the weekend. With it being Good Friday, several people will have a three day weekend. This week my playlist consisted of a lot of mixtapes and it was five to be exact. G Unit Radio 14, Southern Smoke 21, Street Wars 2, Blend City 17 and Sexual Tendencies were the ones. The King album from T.I., the new Lox album, The Resurrection from the Geto Boys and Eardrum from Talib Kweli rounded out my week. On Friday, the Resurrection album from the Geto Boys will turn 25 years old. The members of the Geto Boys were Scarface, Willie D…

T.I. King Album Dropped 15 Years Ago Today

It’s hard to believe that it’s going on 20 years since T.I. dropped I’m Serious. T.I. is still putting out music as he released 11th solo album, The Libra last year. The Libra was a dope project and proved why he’s a legend and one of the best to ever do it. 15 years ago today, T.I. released King which was his fourth project. King was the follow-up to Urban Legend, which was dope. Of course, Urban Legend came after Trap Muzik, which I think is a flawless album. T.I. was definitely on a run during this time because King cemented his legacy in my opinion. Trap Muzik, Urban Legend…

2Pac Until the End of Time Turns 20 Years Old Today

It’s hard to believe that on September 13th of this year will mark the 25th anniversary of Pac passing. Before his passing, Pac released 4 solo albums, Thug Life and countless appearances. One thing you hear about Pac after his passing was his crazy work ethic. More music came about from Pac after death then he released while alive. One of those gems was his album, Until the End of Time. The double album was his seventh total and third posthumous release. Makaveli was the first and R U Still Down? (Remember Me) was the second. Until the End of Time debuted number one and it sold over 426,000 copies…

The Coming From Busta Rhymes Turns 25 Years Old Today

Busta Rhymes has been a staple of hip hop for 30 years now. Before we knew him as the legend he is today, he was a part of the Leaders of the New School. They released a pair of albums in the 1991 and 1993. Busta got his big break when he appeared on the smash-hit Scenario by Tribe Called Quest. Busta had the charisma and energy that people gravitated to. In 1996, he released his debut album, The Coming. Before that, he appeared on the Flava in Ya Ear Remix which was huge when it was released. The Coming eventually went platinum as his single, Whoo Hah! Got You…

Special Affair from Mashich Featuring Dejah B.

It’s been a minute, but it’s time for the return of Music Monday. We only bring this back for special occasions and this is one of them. It’s been over 6 years since we were introduced to D.C. Da Beast and the Thurobredz Clique. During that time, we’ve had countless singles and a dope mixtape in the process. They continue to grow and represent Philly to the fullest by introducing a clothing line. They have also brought new artists into the fold and one of them being Mashich. Last year, we had the chance to check out his track, Haunted. Haunted was a dope track and now he’s back with…

Jaheim Ghetto Love Released 20 Years Ago Today

Jaheim hit the scene more than 20 years ago and he had a very distinct voice. His voice separated him from pretty much any other R&B singer during that time. If you follow the Motown sound, his voice would definitely fit into that mold. Jaheim released Ghetto Love 20 years ago today, which was his debut. Ghetto Love went on to sell over a million records and put him in the forefront of singers. Ghetto Love was accompanied with 3 really good singles. Could It Be, Just in Case and Anything featuring R&B group Next. The only other major feature for Ghetto Love besides Next was from Lil’ Mo. Could…

Welcome to another Thursday, which means we are closer to the weekend. The new Drake EP, Jagged Edge compilation, LL’s classic Mama Said Knock You Out all was played. My playlist this week also consisted of Ghetto Mafia’s Straight from the Dec and Junior Mafia’s debut album. Two days ago, was the 24th anniversary of the passing of the late, great Notorious Big. The last album that was played was 112’s debut album. The self-titled debut went on to sell over two million copies. The second single off the album was called Only You. Only You features the Notorious Big and Mase. Only You is one of the many great…

New Jack City Soundtrack Turns 30 Years Old Today

New Jack City is one of my favorite movies of all-time. The movie was released 30 years ago and it’s still one of those that never get old. Just like every other great movie from the 90s, we always waited for the soundtrack. Above the Rim, Waiting to Exhale, I’m Bout It and many more were classics that came out in the 90s. The New Jack City Soundtrack turns 30 years old today. The New Jack City Soundtrack was a good mixture of hip hop and R&B. Keith Sweat, Ice-T, Queen Latifah, Color Me Badd, 2 Live Crew and Johnny Gill appeared on the soundtrack. New Jack City Soundtrack debuted…

Lotus Flower Bomb from Wale Featuring Miguel

Welcome to another Thursday as that means we’re closer to the weekend. As always, I’ll let you know what was on my playlist for the past week. The new Judas and the Messiah soundtrack and Jaheim’s Ghetto Classics kicked things off. Savage Life 2 from Webbie, UGK’s Super Tight and MC Ren’s Ruthless for Life were just a few joints played. The final album I’ll mention is where my featured Throwback Thursday will be coming. The album is Ambition from none other than Wale. Wale is one of the more underrated and underappreciated rappers over the last decade. Wale can spit and he talks a lot of real stuff in…

Today Marks 25th Anniversary of All Eyez on Me by 2Pac

If anyone is familiar with my website or follow me on Instagram or Twitter, then you know how much I love music and how much I’ve idolized 2Pac. On February 13, 1996 just a few months after he was released from prison, Pac dropped his monumental, double album All Eyez on Me. Everyone was anticipating the new album after he released his classic, Me Against the World while he was in jail and everyone really wanted to know what he had to say. I remember it was my senior year of high school when the album dropped and I checked into school late because the neighborhood record shop released the…

The Fugees Dropped The Score 25 Years Ago Today

February 13, 1996 will always be one of the biggest days in hip hop history. 2Pac released his All Eyez On Me joint and the Fugees dropped the Score also. All Eyez On Me has been talked about ever since. The Score from the Fugees went on to sell over 20 million copies worldwide. Unfortunately, Lauryn Hill, Wyclef and Pras never recorded another album again. The Score has appeared on numerous greatest albums lists. The Fugees went on to win a Grammy for the Best Rap album also. Fu-Gee-La was their first single and it was released in December of 1995. Fu-Gee-La went on to go gold and people were…

Welcome to another Thursday as that means we are closer to the weekend. My playlist this week consisted of Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, the Fugees and some of my 1994 Hip Hop compilation. With Valentine’s Day being this weekend, let’s go in another direction. My wife will receive some Bouq flowers, more Pandora pieces for her bracelet and a couple more things. For Valentine’s though, the best gift is time especially when you both work a lot. For this Throwback Thursday, I decided to put together a little mix for everyone to celebrate with their loved one. Check out these 21 tracks for my 2021 Valentine’s Day Mix. Check…

The debut joint from Fatal Hussein, Gambino Family’s only No Limit album and The Darskide by Fat Joe highlighted my playlist. As you can see, there are a lot to pick from again this week. Ahmad was another album that was played this past week. We going back to 1994 and he released his self-titled album. The highlight of the album was the classic, Back in the Day track. Jeezy Get Ya Mind Right for Throwback Thursday

Welcome to another Thursday as that means we are closer to the weekend. This week, I’ve been back on my regular routine now that I’m out of Covid protocol. Memphis Bleek’s debut joint, the E. 1999 Eternal classic from Bone and the Friday Soundtrack started my week. The new 2 Chainz, an underrated album from Pistol and Black Mafia from Steady Mobb’n was also played. For my Throwback Thursday, I’m going in another direction with one of my favorite albums ever. Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101 is one of those projects you can play from the beginning to end without skipping a track. With an album like Thug Motivation…

Mary J. Blige Family Affair for Throwback Thursday

Welcome to another Thursday and that means we are getting closer to the weekend. Unfortunately, I’ve been sick all week and didn’t listen to a lot of music. The only albums I’ve listened to was Amerikkka’s Nightmare from Spice 1 and a Mary J. Blige mixtape. Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Juice in the Hood, which turned 25 was the other one. We are going with Mary J. Blige to be the featured artist this week. The Queen of Hip Hop/Soul just celebrated her 50th birthday this week. Mary J. Blige has been putting out classics since the early-90s and deserves all the props she gets.…
