Juvenile Ha for Throwback Thursday

It’s hard to believe that Juvenile has been in the rap game for 30 years. Juvenile released his debut album independently back in February of 1995. Being Myself was the name of the album, and it dropped on an independent label called Warlock. Two years later, Solja Rags became the second album in his discography. This was also Juvenile’s first album signed as an artist on Cash Money Records. The album sold over 200,000 copies independently. A year and a half later, Juvenile would release his iconic 400 Degreez album. It has been recognized among the best albums by outlets such as Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, Billboard, Consequence, and The Ringer. The album received quadruple platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). 400 Degreez became the first Cash Money album to be distributed by Universal Records.

Many have said that this album is what Cash Money Records put on the map. 400 Degreez went on to win the Billboard Music Award for Top R&B Album in 1999. Ha was the lead single for the album, and it’s my featured Throwback Thursday joint. According to producer Mannie Fresh, “Ha” was the last song to have been added to 400 Degreez. Ha gets a lot of props to the point Jay-Z jumped on the official remix. Back That Ass Up was responsible for taking the album from regional to mainstream success.

The career of Juvenile after the No Limit and Cash Money Verzuz a few months ago. Juvenile continues to put out music after releasing his first album in 12 years, called Boiling Point.
