Welcome to the first full week of August. In my area, the children returned to school at the beginning of the week. The weather here in Georgia has been cold and rainy for the last few days. The weather feels like fall and football weather. Speaking of football, Antonio Gates, Eric Allen, Jarred Allen, and Sterling Sharpe entered the Hall of Fame. Terry McLaurin shocked the NFL by requesting a trade from the Washington Commanders. McLaurin has been the constant bright spot in the organization for many years, and he wants to be compensated. Speaking of trade requests, we had one from Micah Parsons after talks stalled about a new deal in Dallas. In the NBA, Luka Doncic inked a 3-year max extension with the Lakers. De’Aaron Foxx also signed an extension with the San Antonio Spurs, but his is for four years.
For my fellow wrestling fans, Summerslam completed their first two-night event this past weekend. There were great moments on both nights, and it was capped off by the return of Brock Lesnar. Lesnar came and F5’d Cena after he lost his championship to Cody Rhodes. Speaking of the WWE, it was announced they were doing a deal with ESPN to bring their PLEs to their platform. In the music world, there were a pair of albums that celebrated anniversaries over the past week. Only Built 4 Cuban Linx aka the Purple Tape turned 30 years old this past week. A couple days later, Bun B’s Trill OG celebrated its 15th anniversary. My playlist this week featured the new Freddie Gibbs, Nas I Am, and a few other great joints. Another one that made my list was from Mr. Mike and his Wicked Wayz project.
Mr. Mike was a part of the group South Circle along with Thorough and they released an album called Anotha Day Anotha Balla. They were a part of the legendary Suave House Records alongside 8Ball & MJG, Tela and Crime Boss. Mr. Mike dropped his solo project in the summer of 1996. Overall, it was a solid album and one of the classic Suave House albums that you should have in your collection. Stop Lying featured 8Ball & MJG was already featured from the album. Where Ya Love At was the only single from the album and it’s my featured Throwback Thursday joint. Where Ya Love At is one of the top tracks from the Wicked Wayz album. Check out the video for Where Ya Love At up above. Below, you can check out the track listing and stream link for Wicked Wayz.
