Destiny’s Child Soldier for Throwback Thursday

Destiny’s Child Soldier for Throwback Thursday

My playlist was stacked this past week. Tha Carter from Lil Wayne, Chronic 2001, and a G-Unit Radio mixtape were just a few of them. Destiny’s Child fifth and final album, Destiny Fulfilled was another album that was played. Destiny’s Child released their self-titled debut album back in February of 1998. The following year, they released their second project called The Writing’s on the Wall. The Writing’s on the Wall went 8x platinum and made them into megastars. Less than two years later, the group would release their third album called Survivor. Survivor sold over four million copies. They released a Christmas album six months later and it went platinum. In 2003, Beyonce would release her debut album called Dangerously in Love. The album would sell over six million records in America and over 11 million copies worldwide.

With Beyonce setting off to be a star, the group announced their final album together. Destiny Fulfilled was the name of their final album together. The album recently turned 20 years old, and Lose My Breath was the first single. In 2005, Lose My Breath was nominated in the category for Best R&B Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group at the 47th Annual Grammy Awards. Soldier was their second single from the album and it’s my featured Throwback Thursday track. Soldier featured T.I. and Lil Wayne and this was one of the hottest tracks in 2005. The song received a nomination in the category for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration at the 48th Annual Grammy Awards. Soldier won Best R&B/Soul Single by a Group, Band or Duo award at the 2005 Soul Train Music Awards. Check out the video for Soldier up above.
