Hot Boys We on Fire for Throwback Thursday

Hot Boys We on Fire for Throwback Thursday

There has been a lot going on in this world over the past week. In sports, Joel Embiid was suspended for three games for shoving a reporter. The NFL had their trade deadline with a few moves by a couple of contenders. The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the New York Yankees in five games to win the 2024 World Series. In the hip hop community, we saw that the Hot Boys reunited onstage at Lil Wayne’s Lil WeezyAna Fest. The Hot Boys reuniting on stage was a big deal for the ones who were fans since 1997. The Get It How U Live album was a southern classic. Lil Wayne being shunned from performing in the upcoming Super Bowl in New Orleans has been a talked about subject. Kendrick Lamar was named the halftime performer of the Super Bowl.

During the Lil WeezyAna Fest the mayor of New Orleans gave Lil Wayne the key to the city. Master P followed her and said New Orleans would do their Walk of Fame and Lil Wayne would be the first one to receive a star. These were some cool moments for hip hop and the city of New Orleans. The Hot Boys released their first album in October of 1997, and it was called Get It How U Live!! In July of 1999, they released their second album called Guerilla Warfare. The Guerilla Warfare album was their breakout project with the success of I Need a Hot Girl. Juvenile released his monumental 400 Degreez album in November of 1998 and it sold over four million copies. During this time, B.G. released his classics It’s All On U, Vol. 1 & 2 projects in 1997.

In April of 1999, B.G. earned his first platinum album with his Chopper City in the Ghetto joint. Chopper City in the Ghetto would sell almost two million records, and the big single was Bling Bling. Lil Wayne would release his first solo album; The Block is Hot in November of 1999. The album went platinum, and Wayne would go on to become one of the greatest rappers of all time. My featured Throwback Thursday joint is We on Fire by the Hot Boys from their first album. Check out the video for We on Fire above.
