E-Dub and Ja from Ja Rule and Erick Sermon for Throwback Thursday

E-Dub and Ja from Ja Rule and Erick Sermon for Throwback Thursday

We are going to take you back to 1999 this week. Ja Rule just celebrated the 25th anniversary of the release of his debut album. Venni Vetti Vecci was the name, and it went platinum. Ja Rule first hit the scene on Jay-Z’s Can I Get A from his Hard Knock Life album. After its release, many critics said he sounded a lot like 2Pac and DMX. Before that, Ja Rule was featured on Mic Geronimo’s Time to Build in 1995. Rule went on to form a group with his friends called the Cash Money Click. They released material, but Ja Rule has said it wasn’t a great situation. Russell Simmons and Def Jam Records allowed Irv Gotti to have his own label and he recruited Ja Rule. Murder Inc. was formed, and a couple years is when Ja Rule released his album.

The only single dropped from the album was Holla Holla and it was well-received. Venni Vetti Vecci featured Jay-Z, DMX, Memphis Bleek, Ron Isley, Erick Sermon, and Case. Daddy’s Little Baby was one of my favorite tracks from the album. The track featuring Erick Sermon is another banger on the album and it’s called E-Dub and Ja. E-Dub and Ja will be my featured Throwback Thursday joint this week. Check out the track E-Dub and Ja up above. Below you can peep at the track listing and stream link for the Venni Vetti Vecci album.
