No Limit Records had arguably the biggest year in the history of hip hop in 1998. They released 24 total albums in that year, which is crazy to look back during that era. There were classics released from C-Murder, Fiend, Mac, Master P, Snoop Dogg and many more. In 1999, No Limit Records released another 16 albums and one of them released was TRU’s Da Crime Family album. Da Crime Family was released 25 years ago today and the group TRU consist of Master P, Silkk the Shocker and C-Murder. Da Crime Family was the fifth album from the group, and this was another double album. This was the follow-up to their classic Tru 2 Da Game double album from 1997. The Tru 2 Da Game album was a southern classic and sold over two million copies. Da Crime Family had more features from the No Limit Soldiers than before.
Hoody Hoo was the only single released from the album and it didn’t do well on the charts. Hoody Hoo was a dope, up-tempo track from C-Murder, Master P and Silkk the Shocker. Skull Duggery, Fiend, Mac, Snoop Dogg, Magic, Big Ed, Ghetto Commission, and others made appearances. While this album isn’t as good as the Tru 2 Da Game one it was still a solid project.
