Young Buck got his start with Cash Money Records before blowing up. Buck was a part of Juvenile’s crew when they ran into 50 Cent and G-Unit. After 50 took a liking to him, he was signed to 50 Cent and G-Unit Records. Young Buck made an appearance on 50’s major label debut, Get Rich or Die Tryin. Later in 2003, they would release the G-Unit Beg for Mercy album, and it went double platinum. In the summer of 2004, 50 Cent would release the Hunger for More project by Lloyd Banks. Young Buck made an appearance on the album and less than two months, he would drop his solo joint. Straight Outta Cashville was the name of the project, and it was released 20 years ago today. That’s right, Young Buck Straight Outta Cashville turns 20 years old.
Let Me In was the first single and it featured 50 Cent on the hook. Let Me In was on a lot of mixtapes during this time and it’s a dope track. The second single from the album was a straight southern track called Shorty Wanna Ride. The track was produced by Lil Jon, and it was another banger on the album. Buck had some great features on the album. G-Unit, Ludacris, Lil Flip, David Banner and The Game all made appearances on Straight Outta Cashville. T.I. was originally on the album, but The Game took his spot after him and Ludacris dissed each other on Stomp. Many have called Straight Outta Cashville the best G-Unit release during this time. This is one of those albums you can play from the beginning to end without skipping a track.
Unfortunately, Buck and 50 Cent had a falling out and Buck just paid 50 back what was owed. I’ve always wished they all could come together for a G-Unit tour and include The Game, Buck and Banks. Unfortunately, that’s something I’ve come to grips that we will never see. Either way, check out my top 5 tracks from the Straight Outta Cashville album below. After that, peep at the track listing and stream link for the album.
