Trav’s AFC South Prediction for 2025 Season

We have checked out the AFC East and North, and now we turn our attention to the AFC South. The Houston Texans have been the best team in the division for the last couple of years. The Texans were one of my Super Bowl favorites last season, but they didn’t get close to that. C.J. Stroud enters his third season, and he’s looking to redeem himself from a down year. The Indianapolis Colts turned to Daniel Jones to lead them into this season. Can Jones get the Colts over the hump and challenge for the AFC South crown? Jacksonville had a disappointing season a year ago, and the season of Trevor Lawrence ended early due to injury. Tennessee is hoping that an improvement is on the horizon after a couple of bad seasons. How will the AFC South turn out for the 2025 season?

Houston Texans

The Texans are my top pick to win the AFC South again this season. The AFC South is arguably the worst division in the league. Houston wasn’t one of my top 5 AFC teams this season, but they have the talent to prove me wrong. Nico Collins dealt with injuries last season after his strong start to the season. They added veteran receiver Christian Kirk to their core, and that was a great move. Unfortunately, they traded Laremy Tunsil away, so that could affect Stroud and his protection. The defense traded for C.J. Gardner-Johnson after helping the Eagles win the Super Bowl last season. Houston signed Cam Robinson to a one-year deal to replace Tunsil on the line. The Texans will win the AFC North, but can they challenge the other top teams in the AFC?

Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jacksonville Jaguars had an awful season a year ago. Many people thought they were ready to take the next step, and Trevor Lawrence was one of my MVP candidates. With the bad season, they hired Liam Coen to become their new head coach. Jacksonville is hoping he can work his magic on Lawrence like he did with Baker Mayfield. Jacksonville bolstered its offensive line by adding Patrick Mekari and Robert Hainsey to protect Lawrence. The Jaguars also signed speedy receiver Dyami Brown to go alongside Brian Thomas Jr. The team traded Christian Kirk and released Evan Engram. The secondary was an issue with Jacksonville, so they added Jourdan Lewis and Eric Murray. The Jaguars can compete with anyone if Trevor Lawrence plays to his capabilities. I’m picking the Jaguars to finish behind the Texans in the AFC South.

Indianapolis Colts

The Indianapolis Colts are projected to finish third in the AFC South. Indianapolis made a controversial move by naming Daniel Jones the starting quarterback over Anthony Richardson. Shane Steichen is at a crossroads with his tenure as the head coach. If he has another bad season, the organization could be looking for a new coach. Indianapolis drafted Tyler Warren in the first round from Penn State. Warren was the All-American tight end, and he could open the offense. Jonathan Taylor is still one of the best running backs in the league. On defense, the Colts signed Charvarius Ward to bolster their secondary. The offensive line lost Will Fries to the Vikings in free agency. Is Daniel Jones the answer at quarterback for the Colts? Will Indianapolis compete with the Jaguars and Texans in the AFC South? I’m picking them to finish third in the AFC South.

Tennessee Titans

The Tennessee Titans are my pick to finish last in the AFC South. Tennessee had the top pick in last year’s NFL Draft, and they took Cam Ward. Cam Ward enters the season as the quarterback, and he brings poise and leadership to this team. The Titans have some pieces to play with already, but they did make some upgrades. They added a quality backup quarterback in veteran Brandon Allen. The Titans continued their makeover on the offensive line by signing Kevin Zeitler. Van Jefferson was brought in as another target for Ward. On defense, they signed Xavier Woods to man the secondary. Tennessee also brought in Dre’mont Jones to get after opposing quarterbacks. Tennessee is projected to finish last in the AFC South, but they continues to build something special. The record may not indicate it this season, but they’ll be a better team.
