It’s hard to believe that the children are headed back to school. Gwinnett County begins on Monday, August 4th, and my daughter begins her junior year in college on August 18th. It feels like this summer has flown by. It seems like yesterday the kids were celebrating the final day of the school year. With the school year comes the need for items for the new school year. Below 5 must have essentials for children returning to school.
School Supplies

First and foremost, you need to get the school supplies. The backpack is the first thing you need for your child returning to school. For the small children, they’re probably wanting the newest and latest trend. The older ones want one that’s durable and spacious to carry all their items. After the backpack, they will need the notebooks, binders, pens, pencils, and notebook paper. The younger children will need pencil cases, sticky notes, calculators, and index cards. The older children have phones, so they won’t need a lot of the stuff mentioned.
Technology
When it comes to technology, I’m probably out of touch on a lot of things. With all the work given to your child, you may want them to have a new laptop or tablet. The Kamvas Slate 11 would make the perfect tablet for any child in school. It will help them with their homework, taking notes, and editing photos. You may want to invest in some new AirPods, earbuds, or even some headphones. If they carry cellphones, this is a perfect time for new chargers or even power banks.
Snacks for School and Home
There’s nothing like a good snack for school or when they get home. Who doesn’t like some popcorn? Sweet Chaos doesn’t just have regular, buttery popcorn, but so much more. Dill pickle, kettle corn, white cheddar, and jalapeno blue cheese are just some of their flavors. Make packing lunchboxes easier with school-safe muffins from Antonina’s Gluten-Free Bakery! Their six delicious muffins are peanut-free, nut-free and gluten-free, providing children with a safe treat to enjoy as a snack or in their lunch. The moist gluten-free muffins are light, fluffy, and full of flavor, making them a muffin truly everyone will enjoy.
New Lunch Bag
Do you like to pack lunch for kids? A lot of kids would rather take their lunch than eat at school. Trust me, my daughter used to take her lunch in school. The Expandable Lunch Bag from Titan is the perfect bag for kids going back to school. First off, they’re one of the more stylish lunch bags for older students. The younger kids would probably prefer to have one with their favorite cartoon character. The Titan by Arctic Zone lunch bag is perfect for middle, high school and even college students. They provide up to six hours of cold insulation for their lunch. That gives them plenty of time to keep their food cool without being refrigerated. They include two ice walls and plenty of room to pack a nice sized lunch. This is the perfect sized lunch bag for your student returning to school.
New Gear
All children want to look fresh when they’re returning to school. There are plenty of stores having back to school sales. Kohl’s has been a favorite of the family for many years now. They usually have great sales and a chance to earn Kohl’s cash. There are other places and small businesses that have fly gear for your children. Some places highlight the release of the latest in Jordans and other brands. The Air Jordan 4 Retro Rare Air just dropped over the weekend, and they are great-looking shoes for back to school.
Health & Hygiene Items
We all want our children and others to remain safe throughout the year. Ever since COVID, hand sanitizer has been a must have. You may want to invest in some tissue, disinfectant wipes or Kleenex for the school year. Keep little hands fresh and clean—no sink required! Whether it’s arts and crafts or a messy lunchtime, Handzies Soap + Water Wipes give kids a gentle, natural clean anytime, anywhere. Individually packaged for easy grab-and-go convenience. You may want to get a new first-aid kit while you’re at it. Gone are the typical kits because we have the stylish ones from Keep>Going. Keep>Going First Aid Kits look like a typical bag, but they’re equipped with essentials in case of an accident.
Is your child ready to go back to school? Are you ready for your child to head back to school? Have you gotten their essentials already? If not, check out some of them above and grab something you may need. I’m hoping your child will have a successful, upcoming school year.
