Mike Jones Still Tippin Featuring Slim Thug and Paul Wall

Welcome to the first week of March. Just a quick reminder that time spring forward this weekend. We had a lot going on this week in the world of sports and entertainment. In the NBA, Joel Embiid was ruled out for the season. LeBron James became the first player to scoring 50,000 points, which is amazing. Kyrie Irving tore his ACL and will miss the rest of the season. In the NFL, the combine continues as the NFL Draft is fast approaching. Deebo Samuel was traded to the Washington Commanders and that makes them contenders. The Super Bowl champion Eagles signed Saquon Barkley to a 2-year extension and made him the highest paid running back in NFL history. In baseball, spring training continues as Opening Day is right around the corner. Gervonta Davis and Lamont Roach had their boxing match this past weekend and it ended in controversy.

The WWE had their Elimination Chamber PLE, and it was an amazing event. The big news was John Cena turning heel was one of the biggest moments in wrestling history. Last, but not least, we had a couple pieces of news in the world of music. The first one being that we lost the great Angie Stone. Angie Stone passed away after being involved in a horrific car accident. The other bit of news was the 20^th anniversary of the release of the Massacre album from 50 Cent. My playlist this week featured some great albums and a few mixtapes. The Massacre from 50 Cent, the Ignatius joint from Jadakiss and the Yeezus project from Kanye was played. There was a lot of music that could be featured, but we will head to Houston and a classic record.

Mike Jones and his classic debut also made my list this week. In the mid-2000s, the Houston sound was one of the more influential sounds. Chamillionaire, Slim Thug, Paul Wall, and Mike Jones led the charge with their music. Who is Mike Jones? was his debut album and it went platinum. Still Tippin was the first single from the album and it’s a classic record. Still Tippin is one of my favorite records out of Houston and it’s my featured Throwback Thursday joint. The track features Slim Thug and Paul Wall. The last verse was given to rapper Paul Wall after Chamillionaire had a dispute with both Paul Wall and Mike Jones.
