The Class of 2025 Pro Football Hall of Fame has been announced and it’s the smallest one since 2005. Antonio Gates, Eric Allen, Jared Allen, and Sterling Sharpe are the newest members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. They will all be inducted on Aug. 2nd in Canton, Ohio. It’s the smallest class since 2005, also a four-member class. That’s the year Dan Marino, Steve Young, Fritz Pollard and Benny Friedman were enshrined. There were a few notable names that weren’t selected this year. Adam Vinateri, Luke Kuechly, and Eli Manning are three that come to mind. The NFL held their awards show a few days before Super Bowl LIX. Below are the members of the Class of 2025 Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Antonio Gates
Antonio Gates was selected to the Pro Bowl a total of eight times. He entered the league in 2003 as an undrafted rookie. Gates played basketball and football at Kent State and helped them to an Elite Eight appearance in 2002. Gates finished his career with 955 receptions, fourth in league history for a tight end, and 116 receiving touchdowns, the most for a tight end. Antonio Gates was a pivotal part of those great Chargers teams that couldn’t get over the hump.
Eric Allen
Eric Allen is mostly known for his time with the Philadelphia Eagles. Allen also played for the New Orleans Saints and Oakland Raiders. He ranks 21st all time with 54 career interceptions. Allen made the Pro Bowl six times during his career. Out of those 54 interceptions, he returned six for touchdowns and four happened in 1993. Eric Allen was part of the Eagles team that made me become a fan of theirs.
Sterling Sharpe
Sterling Sharpe is the third member of the 2025 Pro Football Hall of Fame. Sharpe was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in 1988. He had his career cut short due to a neck condition. Sharpe only played seven seasons from 1988 to 1994. But in his seven seasons, only Jerry Rice caught more passes and had more touchdown receptions than Sharpe. He led the league in receptions three times in his career, including his final two seasons. He also led the NFL in receiving yards once and touchdowns twice.
Jared Allen
Last, and not least, we have the final member of the 2025 Pro Football Hall of Fame. Jared Allen played 12 seasons most notably with the Kansas City Chiefs and Minnesota Vikings. Allen terrorized opposing quarterbacks for those 12 years. He finished with 136 career sacks and that puts him 12th all time. Sacks became official statistics back in 1982. He also has an NFL record four safeties.
