Naughty By Nature O.P.P. for Throwback Thursday

Welcome to the first official week of the month of February. We have a lot going on in the world of music and sports. Super Bowl LIX takes place this weekend as the Kansas City Chiefs battles the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles are trying to win their second Super Bowl in franchise history, while the Chiefs are looking to 3-peat. In the NBA, the world is still in awe after the Luka Doncic and Anthony Davis trade. There have been a couple other trades, but no where near the craze of Luka being traded. The NBA trade deadline is today at 3 pm and I’m sure other trades will happen after this goes live. In the music world, Kendrick Lamar took home a lot of hardware as he prepare for his Super Bowl Halftime show.

Speaking of music, my playlist this week had a couple of R&B joints along with my usual hip hop. 112 and the Ashanti Collectibles albums were played this week. Method Man Tical, the new Uncle Murda, Crime Pays by Cam’ron were just a few projects this week. Naughty by Nature and their second album was also played this week. The self-titled album was released in September of 1991. The first album they dropped was under the name of the New Style. The name change came from the legendary Queen Latifah. The first single from their new album is an all time hip hop record and it’s called O.P.P. O.P.P. is my featured Throwback Thursday track and the single itself went double platinum. The track has received many accolades over the years and still get played a lot over 30 years later.

Billboard, Rolling Stone, the Source and several media outlets rank it as one of the best songs. O.P.P. is one of the many tracks to propel the album to sell over a million records. Check out the video for O.P.P. up above. Below you can check out the track listing and stream link for their platinum selling album.
