Mac was one of my favorite rappers on No Limit Records. I’ve said for years that him and Fiend were my two favorites out of the click. They appeared on countless No Limit Records albums that should be in your collection. Fiend released his debut album, There’s One in Every Family and then Mac dropped Shell Shocked a few months later. They would follow the same pattern the following year. Fiend released Street Life and Mac dropped World War III a few months later. Mac World War III turns 25 years old today. Shortly after its release, Mac would go to prison for a manslaughter charge. Mac would spend 21 years behind bars before being released in June of 2021. World War III was the follow-up to his Shell Shocked joint. These two albums were different, but both are amazing albums.
World War III didn’t have an official single, but did have a video for War Party featuring Magic and D.I.G. World War III was a much deeper and lyrical album than Shell Shocked. Due to the decline of No Limit and his prison sentence, this was his final album on No Limit. Mac would release a new album in October of 2022 called Son of the City. Son of the City is a good album that you all need to check out if you haven’t already. Check out my top 5 tracks from the World War III album below. After that, check out the track listing and stream link for the album.
