First off, rest in peace to Chad Butler aka Pimp C. UGK is one of my favorite groups of all-time. It’s still hard to believe that we lost Pimp C all the way back in December of 2007. UGK first hit the scene with their debut album, Too Hard to Swallow. Too Hard to Swallow dropped in 1992 and the southern classic was Pocket Full of Stones. Pocket Full of Stones was a major hit along with Cramping My Style and Something Good. Less than two years later, they returned with their second album, Super Tight. Super Tight turns 30 years old today and this was another good album from UGK. While Too Hard to Swallow had the bigger songs in my opinion, Super Tight was a better overall album.
Front, Back & Side to Side was a southern classic and a track that T.I. would remake on his King album. Return and Underground were the first two tracks off Super Tight. They both were nice tracks, and It’s Supposed to Bubble was up next. It Was Supposed to Bubble was another gem on the album. I Left It Wet for You wasn’t one of my favorites on the album, but the next four tracks were bangers. Feds in Town, Pocket Full of Stones Pt. 2, Front, Back & Side to Side and Protect & Serve. Those were the four tracks that made for a nice streak of dope records. The final three songs were Stoned Junkee, Pussy Got Me Dizzy, and Three Sixteens. They weren’t bad tracks, but not my favorite from Super Tight. Below are my top 5 tracks from the album.
After that, you can check out the track listing and stream link for the Super Tight album. There are a few tracks from the album that made my personal UGK Greatest Hits joint. Nowadays, Bun B rarely raps as he’s focused on his popular food chain, Trill Burgers.
