Rapsody Release Eve Album 5 Years Ago

Rapsody is probably my favorite female rapper over the last 7 years. Laila’s Wisdom was her second album she released, and it made me a fan of hers. Laila’s Wisdom was one of my favorite albums that dropped in 2017. Two years later, Rapsody released the Eve album which was her third project. This was a special album due to each song being named after influential black women. Rapsody decided to write the album in 2018 when a writer asked her if she felt that she was a successor to Nina Simone and Roberta Flack. She crafted an album with each song dedicated to one of her heroes. If I decided to do a list of favorite albums from 2019, this one would be on it. Some of the women mentioned was Michelle Obama, Afeni Shakur, Nina Simone, and Aaliyah.

To me, this was a flawless album, and it was well-received by critics and fans alike. Queen Latifah, J. Cole, JID, GZA, D’Angelo, and Elle Varner are some of the guest appearances. Afeni, Nina, Hatshepsut, Myrtle, and Ibtihaj are my top 5 tracks of the moment. Those top 5 can change at any time, but those are the top ones as of now. Rapsody released her 4th album, Please Don’t Cry back in May and it’s an amazing joint. Check out the Eve track listing and stream link below.
