Ludacris is one of the more underrated rappers to ever touch the mic. Luda is someone that has fun on the mic and sometimes his lyrics get overshadowed. Make no mistake, Ludacris is one of the illlest MCs to ever grace us with his music. One of the albums that made my playlist this week was his Word of Mouf project. Word of Mouf is the third studio album from Ludacris and his second one on a major label. The album went 4X platinum and is arguably his best album. Word of Mouf lost to the Eminem Show for best rap album at the 45th Grammy Awards. This is listed as #1 on my list of top 5 albums from Ludacris. The album is full of bangers, but the track I’m highlighting is Area Codes featuring the late, great Nate Dogg.
Area Codes was the first single released off the album and it was featured on the Rush Hour 2 soundtrack. Area Codes is my featured Throwback Thursday track for this week. The gold selling single is one of the many highlights from the album. These days Ludacris is focused more on movies than music. Luda is one of the old school rappers I’d love to drop new music in the next year. Either way, check out the video for Area Codes above.
