We are less than a month into the summer season and it’s hot! We all want to find summer activities that’s fun and we can bond with our kids. With the temperatures being well into the 90s, it’s hard to find things to do outside. If you live in the North Georgia area or willing to travel, there are things to do. We all want to beat the heat, but also have some fun in the process. There are quite a few options in North Georgia and the surrounding areas. Below are 21 activities to do if you live in the North Georgia area this summer.

Museums

There are various museums to choose from throughout the state of Georgia. The National Center for Civil and Human Rights in Atlanta is a great start. This would make for a great learning experience for the family. With the resurgence of the Georgia Bulldogs football team, the College Football Hall of Fame is another place. With more than 50 exhibits, this museum is a college-football-lovers’ dream. There are other types of museums throughout the state of Georgia and near North Georgia to be specific.

The Aquariums

There’s an aquarium in Georgia and in Tennessee. The Georgia Aquarium is in the middle of downtown Atlanta. They are running a special during the summer where the tickets are $25 after 5PM. When my kids were younger, we went to the Ripley’s Aquarium in Tennessee. Ripley’s Aquarium is in Gatlinburg, and they have a lot of activities to offer. If you want to make that trip, there’s plenty for you to do while in Gatlinburg.

Go to Movies

The summertime is when the studios wait to release their top movies. You may want to get out of the house and enjoy some time together. Despicable Me 4, Bad Boys: Ride or Die, and Inside Out 2 are just a few of the great movies that’s out now.

Topgolf

Topgolf is a great place to go and have some fun. There are four locations within 100 miles of the Atlanta/North Georgia area. Buford, Midtown, Alpharetta and Chattanooga are the locations within those 100 miles. If you want to travel farther there’s one in Augusta and Greenville South Carolina. Topgolf offers a variety of games, food, and drinks. You will have a lot of fun, and this could take up almost half of your day.

Main Event

Main Event has three locations in the North Georgia area. Atlanta, Alpharetta, and Suwanee are where they’re located. You can bowl, play games, pool and enjoy some good food in the process.

Sloomoo Institute

Do you have little ones? Do they like to get into stuff? Of course, they do, and the Sloomoo Institute is the perfect place to take them. The Sloomooverse is full of never-ending, hand-crafted slime, yummy scents, vivid colors, and soothing ASMR delights. Let them burn up all that energy they by spending the day at the Sloomoo Institute. After looking into it, this would be fun for the older kids and adults also.

Illuminarium

Have you experimented with VR technology? If not, you don’t know what you’re missing, and this is fun for all ages. The Illuminarium lets you embark on a virtual reality tour of Egypt. You can explore the Giza Plateau and the Great Pyramid of Gaza with this virtual experience.

Dave & Busters

Dave & Busters is entertainment for the entire family. Lawrenceville, Alpharetta, Marietta, and McDonough are the four locations in Georgia. You can literally spend the entire day there as a family. They have TVs to watch sports, games and great food.

Who doesn’t love Legos? As an adult, Legos are still cool to me, and the Lego Discovery Center is a great place to go. They have several ticket options for you to choose from. Lego Discovery Center also have a couple of pass options for you and your family. They have the Sunday through Friday annual pass along with the Anytime Annual Pass.

Get Some Ice Cream

White Water is a part of Six Flags Over Georgia. White Water is open through the 2nd of September. There’s about a little over 6 weeks to enjoy the fun at White Water.

The WNBA has become a hot ticket in the sports world. The popularity of the likes of Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese, the WNBA has grown in America. The Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky will be visiting Atlanta in August and September.

Andretti’s Indoor Karting & Games has two locations in the North Georgia area. The one close to my home is in Buford and the other in Marietta. Simulators, laser tag, arcade games, bowling, and karting are some of the things to be done inside Andretti’s. After all that playing, they have you covered with some refreshing drinks and great food.

Maybe you want to just stay home and find things to do in the comfort of your own home. These days it feels like that’s the best option for us all at times.
