8 Items We Took on Our Road Trip to Visit Our Daughter for the Weekend

My daughter is getting close to finishing up her freshman year in college. She’s about 3.5 to 4 hours away from home and it feels different at home without her. Despite our hectic schedule, my wife and I still visit her quite often. As a matter of fact, we recently made a trip to see our daughter for the weekend. We decided to take a road trip to visit our daughter and spend the weekend with her. We tend to not take too much whenever we go on these road trips. Below are 8 items we took on our road trip to visit our daughter for the weekend.

Snacks

There are no road trips without taking our fair share of snacks. The only stop I’ll make is usually just to get some gas before hitting the road. My wife usually has her own snacks for herself, and it usually consists of candy or chocolate. I’m always going the healthier route with something packed with protein. First off, I’m a huge fan of beef jerky but all of them aren’t made the same. Old Trapper has me covered whether it’s beef jerky or beef sticks. They make for the perfect snack whether I’m on a road trip, at work or at home.

Clothes for the Weekend

We usually stay for a couple of days before heading back home. We pack enough clothes for a couple days and one of those days we wear casual gear. The second night we tend to find a nice spot to have dinner together. We share a suitcase, so we don’t go overboard bringing a lot of clothes. There are a couple of outfits a piece, plus some pajamas and the usual underwear and socks of course.

Medicine

We don’t bring the entire medicine cabin with us, but at least some Advil or Ibuprofen. Sitting in the car for a long time can take a toll on you.

Chargers

We both have our chargers for our phones in the car. We will also bring one for our hotel room also. Since both of us have an Apple Watch, we also bring that charger with us also. My wife is usually on her iPad during the trip, so we must bring that one also.

Nice Playlist

If you follow me, then you know music is something I’m always listening to. Alot of the music I’m listening to won’t be played with my wife around. I’ll make a nice playlist that both of us can enjoy for the ride. It’s usually a mixtape of clean hip hop, 90s R&B and a mix of old-school Motown too.

Jumper Cables

I’ve been in situations where my car has died and have vowed to never leave without jumper cables. Jumper cables are one of those things on your road trip list you hope to never use! They can save you from being stranded, but you can always help a buddy who is stuck too.

Air Pump

Over the holidays, we had an opportunity to check out the portable air pump from Worx. We all have experienced getting a flat tire at one point in our life. Unfortunately, this has happened a few times to me and relatives. This 20V Power Share Portable Air Pump always stays in the ride. The air pump is easy to use. Simply attach the air chuck to the tire valve, select the proper psi, and hit the start button. Once the tire has reached the preferred psi, the pump will shut off automatically.

Cooler for Drinks

As mentioned, we don’t make any stops during our road trip because the tank is filled before leaving. What’s cool about this cooler is that it’s battery operated. The batteries stay charged and they can last the entire trip. Usually, we will recharge the batteries in the hotel overnight.

Those are the 8 items we have when we go on our road trip to see our daughter on the weekend. Do you have kids in college? Is it a good driving distance to see them? What are some essentials you pack on your road trip? Leave some feedback below about anything related to your road trip.
