Trav’s 2023 Week 14 NFL Predictions

Week 13 is in the books and the playoff race continues to heat up. My record last week was 4-3, which moved my overall mark to 77-42. The winning percentage dropped a little from 65.2 to 64.7%%. My first loss came when the Houston Texans defeated the Denver Broncos. The Broncos were on a 5-game winning streak, but the resilient Texans overcame an injury to Tank Dell to win. My second defeat came when the Green Bay Packers found a way to beat the defending Super Bowl champions. The big news of the weak was the 49ers destroying the Eagles 42-19 in the NFC Championship rematch. The Thursday night game saw the Dallas Cowboys edge the Seahawks in an offensive battle 41-35. The low point of the week had to be the Patriots losing 6-0 to the Chargers. The Lions continued their winning ways by defeating the Saints.

The Atlanta Falcons took sole control over the NFC South with their win over the New York Jets. Arizona found another victim after their upset over the Pittsburgh Steelers 24-10. The Bucs are tied with the Saints in the NFC South and remain a game behind Atlanta also. This week I’ll be predicting another 10 games with the hopes of continuing to win more than lose.

As always, we start things off with the Thursday Night game. The New England Patriots will travel to Heinz Field in Pittsburgh to battle the Steelers. New England is in the midst of a 5-game losing streak. They scored only 47 total points during their losing streak. Mac Jones has been benched and this week they lost Rhamondre Stevenson with a severe ankle injury. The Patriots are one of the worse teams in the league. Can they upset Pittsburgh and end their losing streak? Pittsburgh lost to Arizona to drop their record to 7-5. Kenny Pickett was injured and he’s going to miss time after having surgery on his high ankle sprain. Mitchell Trubisky will get the start and he will have to deal with the stout Patriots defense. I’m picking the Steelers in a close and low scoring game. Pittsburgh Win 17-10

We have a battle between two teams that’s fighting for first place in the NFC South. The 5-7 Tampa Bay Buccaneers will travel to Atlanta to meet the first place Falcons. Despite having a bad season, the Bucs are a game behind the Falcons for first place. They are tied with the Saints with their 5-7 record, but they defeated New Orleans earlier this season. Tampa dropped their first game to the Falcons so this is a critical one. The Falcons have won two in a row after being on a 3-game losing streak. They sit atop of the division with a 6-6 record, and they can create distance. The Falcons have only one more home game after this one with 3 of their final 4 on the road. The Falcons will take advantage of home cooking and win again. Atlanta Win 20-17

We head to the AFC as the Jacksonville Jaguars head to Cleveland to battle the Browns. Jacksonville could be without Trevor Lawrence after going down with an ankle injury. Jacksonville only has a one game lead over Indianapolis and Houston. Jacksonville feels like a different team after their blowout loss at home to the 49ers. With the availability of Lawrence uncertain, can the Jags continue to win? Cleveland is slowly starting to fade away in the AFC. They lost their last two games by a combined score of 65-31. The defense stays on the field way too long and the offense can’t generate points. This is a tale of two teams that are trending in opposite directions. I’m going with the Jaguars continuing their winning ways. Jacksonville Win 24-14

We have the Los Angeles Rams making that cross country trip to Baltimore to face the Ravens. The Rams have won three in a row and look like a scary team as the playoffs approach. The offense is averaging 30 points a game while the defense gives up 16. Matthew Stafford has a great connection with his receivers and Kyren Williams is a great running back. Can the Rams continue this success against arguably the league’s toughest defense? Baltimore is coming off their bye week and they’re one of three teams in the AFC with 3 losses. They continue to have the top rushing offense and best scoring defense in the league. Lamar Jackson continues to keep defenses confused with his arm and legs. I’m going with the Ravens to end the Rams winning streak. Baltimore Win 30-20

We head to the NFC West for a battle between two playoff hopefuls. The Seattle Seahawks will travel to San Francisco to meet the 49ers. After an amazing start to the season, the Seahawks have dropped four of their last five games. Seattle lost at home to this Niners team a couple weeks ago 31-13. Seattle showed a lot of fight in their 41-35 loss on the road to the Dallas Cowboys. Can the Seahawks shock the world and upset the Niners? The 49ers are arguably the best team in the league after blowing out the Eagles. If San Francisco play like they did against Philly no one is beating them? Will the 49ers keep that same intensity for the remainder of the season? If so, no one is beating them, and they will win this game. San Francisco Win 38-20

We have two of the early season AFC Super Bowl favorites meeting who both need wins desperately. The Buffalo Bills will travel to Kansas City to face the Chiefs in a huge matchup. Buffalo has dropped to 6-6 after losing three of their last four games. They finally had their bye week, and they have the Cowboys after this game, so they need wins. Josh Allen usually plays great against Kansas City, but this is a different defense. The Chiefs themselves just dropped their 2^nd game of three on Sunday Night in Green Bay. The Chiefs still lead the Broncos by a couple games in the AFC West. If they are going to get homefield advantage they need wins and help. With the Chiefs backs against the wall, I’m going with the Bills in a close one. Buffalo Win 34-31

This is a matchup that will affect the AFC Wild Card race. The Indianapolis Colts will head to Cincinnati to face the Bengals. With their 7-5 record, the Colts are one of four teams occupying three Wild Card spots. The Colts have won four games in a row, and they are ranked in the top-10 for scoring offense. The defense is still giving up a lot of points which could be a problem in the long run. The Bengals enter this game with a 6-6 record after ending their 3-game losing streak with a win over Jacksonville. When Joe Burrow went out, we all thought this team was done, but they showed a lot in Jacksonville on Monday Night. Jake Browning played great as it looks like he’s getting familiar with the offense. I’m picking the Bengals to end the Cols winning streak. Cincinnati Win 27-21

We have the Sunday Night game, and you couldn’t ask for a bigger game. The Philadelphia Eagles will head to Dallas to face the rival Cowboys. The Eagles still hold a game lead over the Cowboys in the NFC East. Philadelphia still sits atop of the NFC by one game over the 49ers and Lions. The Eagles signed Shaq Leonard with hopes of him helping their depleted LB core. Will the Eagles repeat the same mistake they did against the 49ers? Dallas is riding a 4-game winning streak headed into this matchup. The Cowboys haven’t lost since they were defeated by Philly over a month ago. The offense is averaging 42 points ever since that loss and they know the significance of this game. With the crowd behind them I’m picking the Cowboys to win and tie the Eagles in the NFC East. Dallas Win 38-28

This is the first of two Monday Night games this week. The Tennessee Titans will head south to Miami to battle the Dolphins. The Titans have lost 4 of their last 5 games and basically a long shot to make the playoffs. They can play spoiler for the remainder of the season, and it starts with Miami. There are several rumors regarding this organization, and it starts with the futures of Coach Mike Vrabel and Derrick Henry. Miami sits atop of the AFC with a 9-3 record, and they control their own destiny for the playoffs. They win and then the road to the Super Bowl in the AFC goes through Miami. Tyreek Hill is having one of the greatest seasons ever for a receiver. Hill has almost 1500 yards receiving as he’s on the road to have over 2,000 yards receiving and they win. Miami Win 35-20

The second Monday Night game takes place between a pair of NFC teams. The resurgent Green Bay Packers head to New York to battle the Giants. Green Bay was written off about a month ago and Jordan Love was feeling the heat. Ever since then, they have won three in a row with two of those against the Chiefs and Lions. The Packers find themselves in the playoff hunt tied with three other teams for two spots. Can they make it 4 in a row? The Giants have won two in a row before their bye week and still have a fighting chance at a Wild Card spot. Unfortunately, they have one of the worse scoring defenses and only scoring 13 points a game. I’m going with the Packers to make it four in a row. Green Bay Win 23-14
