Trav’s 2023 Week 10 NFL Predictions

Week 9 is in the books, and we are now officially halfway through the 2023 season. My record was 5-2 and it raises my overall mark to 54-29. The winning percentage rises a little from 64.5% to 65.1%. The first loss of the week came when the Vikings defeated the Atlanta Falcons on the road. The Vikings started a rookie, but he was knocked out of the game during the first drive. Joshua Dobbs entered the game and led the Vikings to the victory. Dobbs was traded from Arizona to Minnesota earlier in the week after Kirk Cousins went down. The other defeat was the Philadelphia Eagles defeating the Dallas Cowboys in an epic game. There were a few anticipated games this past week. The first one saw the Kansas City Chiefs defeat the Miami Dolphin 21-14.

Kansas City scored 21 points in the first half and Miami scored 14 in the second. Seattle went to Baltimore and was demolished by the Ravens 37-3. Baltimore showed why they have the best defense and running offense in the league. In the Sunday Night game, the Cincinnati Bengals beat the Buffalo Bills 24-18. The Bengals have looked like themselves over the last three weeks. Las Vegas responded to the firing of Josh McDaniel with a dominant win over the New York Giants. There will be another 9 games being picked this week. Let’s see if things can continue to move in the right direction.

We kick things off with the usual Thursday night game. This week we have a battle between two of the worse teams in the league. The Carolina Panthers will head to Chicago to face the Bears. As we all know, these two teams were involved in a trade where Carolina acquired the #1 pick from Chicago. The Panthers selected Bryce Young and in return Carolina sent Chicago D.J. Moore and this year’s top pick. The more losses Carolina rack up, the better chance the Bears will have the #1 pick in the upcoming draft. Carolina comes into this game with just one win. Chicago enters this game with only two wins, but hoping they could have Justin Fields back. Montez Ford and his new extension will help the Bears pressure Bryce Young and win the game. Chicago Win 31-17

We have the second game in Frankfurt, Germany as the Indianapolis Colts battle the New England Patriots. This will not be as anticipated as it was in the past when we had Peyton Manning versus Tom Brady. We have the Indianapolis Colts being led by Gardner Minshew and Mac Jones at the helm for New England. The Colts ended their 3-game losing streak last week in Carolina. Indianapolis is top-10 in scoring offense, but they’re also bottom 5 in scoring defense. Josh Downs is dealing with a knee injury on offense, which could hamper them. The Patriots enter this game with a 2-7 record and things doesn’t seem to be getting better. They have one of the worse offenses in the league and the defense have regressed. I’m picking the Patriots to edge the Colts. Indianapolis Win 21-17

We have the surprising Houston Texans traveling to Cincinnati to meet the Bengals. The Houston Texans enter this game with a 4-4 record. Last week, C.J. Stroud had one of, if not the best game as a rookie QB. Stroud threw for 470 yards and tossed 5 TDs in their win over Tampa Bay. Texans have a top-5 pass offense, but they’re one of the worse running teams. The defense is coming along as they’re middle of the pack in scoring. Don’t look now, but the Bengals have won four in a row after starting 1-3 for the season. The defense is starting to play at the high level we expected. Joe Burrow is looking like himself and the running is starting to get better. I’m picking the Bengals to continue their winning ways. Cincinnati Win 31-21

We have a pair of 5-4 teams facing off as the New Orleans Saints travel to Minnesota to face the Vikings. The Saints have won two games in a row after dropping the previous two. They are in first place in the NFC South as of now. The defense is carrying them, but Derek Carr is playing mistake free ball right now. New Orleans needs to find a way to get Alvin Kamara going on offense. Will the Saints make it three in a row? Look out, the Minnesota Vikings have won 4 games in a row. When Kirk Cousins went down, everyone thought the Vikings should’ve brought in a proven veteran. They went with the rookie, but he was injured on the first drive so insert Joshua Dobbs. Dobbs was traded earlier in the week, but I’m going with the Saints. New Orleans Win 26-21

We have a big-time matchup between two possible Super Bowl teams. The San Francisco 49ers travel down south to Jacksonville to battle the Jaguars. The 49ers are coming off their bye week and are in the midst of a 3-game losing streak. Despite the losing streak, the 49ers are still ranked in the top-10 in most categories on offense and defense. They traded for Chase Young before the end of the deadline. They are hoping to get Deebo Samuel back also. Jacksonville is also coming off their bye week and they’re riding a 5-game winning streak. The Jaguars offensive line will have their hands full with the Niners front four. Can Travis Etienne continue his hot streak against this tough defense? This should be a great game and I’m picking the Niners to end their losing streak. San Francisco Win 24-20

We head to arguably the toughest division in the entire NFL and that’s the AFC North. The Cleveland Browns will head to Baltimore to face the Ravens. The Ravens lead the division with a 7-2 record, but the other teams only have three losses. Cleveland is hoping Deshaun Watson will continue to get healthier as he’s recovering from a shoulder injury. The Browns defense is one of the best in the league. They are in the top 5 in rushing despite losing Nick Chubb for the season. Baltimore is riding a 4-game winning streak after destroying Seattle 37-3. The Ravens have the best defense and top rushing offense in the league. This should be a tough and physical game between the division rivals. The Ravens are the best team in the AFC to me so I’m picking them. Baltimore Win 27-17

We have the Detroit Lions heading to the west coast to battle the Los Angeles Chargers. The Lions are coming off their bye week and sitting atop of the NFC North with a 6-2 record. Detroit is one of the best teams in the NFC and it’s because of their offense and defense. They have plenty of weapons on the offense to get the ball too. With the defense, they are in the middle of the pack as far as scoring goes. The Chargers have won a couple in a row, and it seems like they’re finding their rhythm. The defense shut down the Jets and Zach Wilson on Monday Night. The Chargers still need to improve their running offense to help Justin Herbert more. This should be a tough one, but I’m picking the Lions on the road. Detroit Win 27-26

We have the Sunday Night game between two historic AFC franchises. The New York Jets make the trip out west to Las Vegas to face the Raiders. The Jets are coming off an embarrassing loss on Monday night to the Chargers. The defeat ended their 3-game winning streak as they committed 3 costly turnovers in the game. Zach Wilson threw the ball 49 times, and you will most likely lose when throwing so much. With Aaron Rodgers possibly coming back, can they mount up more wins? The Raiders ushered in the Antonio Pierce era with an impressive win last week. The win ended their 2-game losing streak and it seems like the team is in higher spirits now. Can Aiden O’Connell continue to flourish? I’m going with the Raiders to win again in a close one. Las Vegas Win 20-17

We have the Monday Night game between two teams that need a win badly. The Denver Broncos travel to Buffalo to face the Bills. Could Denver finally turn the corner on this season? Denver is coming off their bye week after they dominated Kansas City and defeated the Chiefs. The Broncos were 1-5 but won their last two games before their bye week. Can the Broncos continue to win and creep into the Wild Card picture? Could the Bills be in trouble? They have lost two of their last three games and their schedule gets harder. After facing the Jets next week, they battle the Eagles, Chiefs, Cowboys, and Chargers in consecutive weeks. They will have a bye week between the Eagles and Chiefs game. They will play with urgency and beat the Broncos. Buffalo Win 34-21
