Slaughterhouse dropped their self-titled debut album 10 years ago today. Joe Budden, Crooked I, Joell Ortiz, and Royce 5’9” formed the supergroup. The group came together when Joe Budden was working on a song for his Halfway House album and enlisted the services of Nino Bless, Crooked I, Joell Ortiz, and Royce da 5’9″ for a song entitled “Slaughterhouse”. Honestly, when I saw they were doing an entire album together, anticipation wasn’t the word. When you get four lyrical beasts together, we knew the album will be crazy. The One was the first single released from the album. The track was released a little over a month before the album dropped. While it wasn’t spectacular, we all knew that the album would have several standout tracks. Overall, the album is great to the point that it got the attention of Eminem.
Sound Off, Lyrical Murderers, Microphone, Not Tonight, Cuckoo, Onslaught 2, Salute, Pray, Cut You Loose, and Raindrops. The tracks mentioned are my favorites from the Slaughterhouse album. We all wished they had made another album like this one. They signed to Shady Records, released a less-than-stellar album, and eventually broke up. One day, we’re all hoping that’ll happen, but Joe Budden said he’s retired from making music. Either way, peep the track listing below, and it’s followed by the stream links.
