It’s that time of the year again, and of course I’m talking about March Madness. As they wrap up the Sweet 16 and cruise to the Final Four, we are now experiencing great weather so that means my wife want to do things with each other. The setup was rather simple, and it took around 10 to 15 minutes to set everything up on the Slingbox. As pictured below, you connect the cords to the back of the Slingbox, and you also connect the cables from the back of the Slingbox to your cable box. The IR emitter cable will be placed on the top or bottom to the cable box, and it adds range and flexibility to the signal. For me, I use the Slingbox service through my wireless Internet, but you can connect an Ethernet cable from the Slingbox to your Router/Modem.
Since I always have my iPhone wherever I go then I set up everything there by downloading the SlingPlayer for iPhone app onto your phone. Afterwards, you’ll be asked if you would like to connect via Wi-Fi or the Ethernet. After being connected, you’ll be asked to find Slingbox on your phone’s settings, and then you’ll connect to it. When your Slingbox is found, you’ll have to download any updates that’re available after installation is complete you will be informed that you’re running the latest software.
When you’ve installed your Slingbox onto the device, you will have to add your location of the Slingbox that includes your country and zip code. Since my satellite provider is DirecTV, it gives me a list of instructions to follow that includes turning on the IR setting for my remote. After testing the remote to see on your device, it will let you know that you’re now able to watch live TV.
